She’s got IT: From Event to Career at BCG Platinion

Thao participated in our first edition of She’s Got IT in November 2023, completed her internship in late 2024 and now works as IT Associate in our Hamburg office. 

Thao, how would you describe the event in 3 words? 
Inspiring, empowering, and connecting. 

What motivated you to apply for She’s Got IT in the first place?  
I was particularly interested in learning from women already working in IT strategy consulting, which I found incredibly inspiring. At the same time, I was curious to see how technology and consulting come together in practice. 

What role did the event play in your decision to apply for an internship afterwards? 
It gave me a clear picture of how diverse and impactful IT projects can be, which made the role feel much more tangible. It also made me curious about how I could contribute and what I could learn along the way.

How did attending the event help you prepare for interviews and your first weeks? 
Through the event, I gained a much better understanding of typical project structures and problem-solving approaches. I also found the practical tips shared by consultants on interviews and case preparation very valuable, as they closely reflected the actual interview setting.

What made you realize you wanted to continue your journey at BCG Platinion beyond the internship?  
During the internship, I experienced a steep learning curve in both technical and consulting skills and was given a high level of responsibility early on, which allowed me to truly feel like a consultant. Most importantly, the people made the biggest difference for me: highly driven, exceptionally bright, and at the same time very down-to-earth.
