Starting a new chapter at BCG Platinion means stepping into a fast-paced, collaborative and truly global environment. For Nikolaos, the first year brought unique challenges, diverse teams and real responsibility from day one. In this article he looks back on the moments that defined his journey and the lessons that shaped him both as a consultant and as a person.
What was your most memorable experience during your first year working at BCG Platinion?
My standout memory from my first year at BCG Platinion is the truly international nature of work, which augments it from operative problem-solving to a holistic multi-dimensional growth experience. Within twelve months, I had the rare opportunity to work on high-impact C-level tech advisory projects in seven different countries across Europe and Asia. I especially enjoyed collaborating with colleagues and clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. It taught me to adapt, listen carefully and build trust in any environment. Each project became a unique journey of growth.
How has your work contributed to your personal and professional growth?
I consider the overall environment at BCG Platinion a true accelerator of growth, both personally and professionally. From the very first month, I was given real responsibility on large-scale transformation projects and learned how to frame decisions and focus on what truly matters. Working on complex, high-stakes problems sharpened my analytical skills, but the growth went far beyond project content. It extended to a broader context of cross-cultural collaboration and a strong sense of belonging. This journey has shaped me both as a consultant and as a person.
Can you share a story where your work had a significant impact on a client? How did it feel to see the result of your efforts?
For me, a great story comes from a project in Azerbaijan last year, where I led the end-to-end RFP process for sourcing a modern, enterprise-wide data platform. When we started, the client had only a loosely defined ambition. We helped turn that into clear requirements, drafted the RFP, managed vendor Q&A and live demos, and guided both the technical and commercial evaluation. In the end, seeing the client make a confident decision, framed in the best possible way, was deeply satisfying. It truly felt like turning an abstract idea into a meaningful step forward for the organization.
What advice would you give to someone just starting their journey at BCG Platinion?
My advice would be to make the most of this unique experience and stay open to both formal and informal opportunities, which are all around you.

What are you most looking forward to as you continue your journey with BCG Platinion?
This first year can be considered a year of adaptation and familiarizing wit the unique environment of BCG Platinion. Moving forward I aim to double down across dimensions, stretch my capabilities and provide even greater value through exceptional challenges and opportunities in project work and beyond.
Nikolaos’ first year at BCG Platinion was marked by continuous learning, global exposure and real impact. As he looks ahead, he’s ready to take on even greater challenges and continue growing with every new experience. We’re excited to see what comes next.
