Do you want to turn the challenges of digitalization into the commodity trading solutions of the future? Join us, at BCG Platinion, in tackling the core IT issues of leading global commodity trading companies. Deploy customized solutions, platforms, architectures, strategies, and organizations to leverage the digital potential of our customers and drive innovation. Add your individual strengths to our unique team, which is always there to support you. Together with the Boston Consulting Group and our clients, we turn digital visions into reality. Be a core part of our best-in-class global commodity trading and risk management network making a real difference for our clients.

As a Senior Consultant Commodity Trading (all genders), you will be working directly with our clients and our colleagues from The Boston Consulting Group on projects to unlock additional value from asset-backed trading strategies, to build new or improved trading capabilities and solutions or solve their modernization and digitalization problems. You will help to analyze requirements, define target landscapes and trading IT organizations, help to manage their implementation programs and to develop their capabilities.

Shape the world of tomorrow

  • Take end-to-end responsibility for functional streams within large-scale transformation and implementation projects in commodity/energy trading — from requirements analysis and target architecture design to successful implementation

  • Lead and steer interdisciplinary project teams (business analysts, developers, QA specialists) while actively mentoring and developing team members

  • Translate strategic business concepts into robust solution architectures and actionable implementation roadmaps (use case design, capability mapping, requirements engineering, process design, data domains, and flow analyses)

  • Own the architecture and implementation of commercial off-the-shelf solutions, including CTRM/ETRM systems, portfolio management, forecasting, scheduling and logistics solutions, as well as digital data platforms for value measurement and optimization

  • Manage complex transformation programs including governance structures, stakeholder management, and risk control at senior management level

  • Ensure adherence to industry best practices in energy trading delivery and contribute to the continuous development of methodological standards

  • Support business development activities, proposal processes, and the further expansion of our commodity trading portfolio

This is how you can make a difference

  • Successfully completed degree in (business) informatics, business administration, or a related field

  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in the context of energy providers, software implementations, or transformation projects in energy trading or energy IT

  • Proven experience leading project teams or functional streams within complex programs

  • Deep practical experience in the design, implementation, and configuration of industry-standard energy trading software (e.g., CTRM/ETRM systems, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or comparable platforms)

  • Strong understanding of IT landscapes in energy trading environments (core systems, interfaces, data architectures)

  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, including experience in developing robust business cases

  • Confident presence when interacting with senior IT and business stakeholders

  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
